This system includes delivery system inside a small metal box, which can be positioned near the sample using included 1 ft. rod. Comes with X-block that fits to standard 0.5 in. stands. 2-Channel controller allows to switch channels manually, by analog signals, through software commands, or by TTL signals. The controller can also operate valves in SLAVE mode (when one closes, another opens automatically). When lines are closed, the setup works like a regular pipette holder to allow seal formation. After obtaining whole-cell configuration, one channel can be open to allow solution withdrawing from a small reservoir system (included). Since the end of filament is positioned near the pipette tip, perfusion of intracellular content occurs (only few microlitters are needed to replace the content of the pipette tip). If wider pipettes are used, multiple filaments can be positioned inside the pipette to exchange two or more solutions. Since flow units are inside metal box and are connected to the controller through shielded cables, there is no electrical noise during switching.
